SEEING FILMS

When I arrive at the Festival, I discover that tickets to the film I want to see are no longer available. What can I do?

Where there's a will, there's a way. Here are your options:

Day-of-Show Sales

Does the website say that your tickets are unavailable or sold out for today? Come in to our SAIFF Box Office in the theater to get tickets to previously unavailable screenings. Each day, the SAIFF Box Offices will release a limited number of tickets to that day's screenings. Tickets for each theatre's first screening of the day are released at one (1) hour prior to showtime. Day-of-show tickets must be purchased in-person; they are not available online.

The Waitlist

Is the film you want to see sold out? Each year, hundreds of filmgoers see popular festival films thanks to the waitlist. If the box office has run out of tickets, they will direct you to the waitlist. Starting two hours before the scheduled screening time, you will be able to sign up on the waitlist, one ticket per person present. (Exception: For each theatre's first screening of the day, waitlist numbers will be announced one hour before the scheduled screening time.) Once you have your number, be sure to return no later than 30 minutes before the screening time. At that time, you'll line up according to number, and tickets will be sold in sequential order based on availability. Waitlist tickets are only $15. CASH ONLY.

Other Options

Don't despair if you just can't find that ticket. There are film panels, music events, demonstrations, and more in addition to our regular program of films. Events run all evening during the Weekdays, and all day during the Weekends at Festival venues like the The Rubin Museum of Art, the Museum Cafe, and the AMC 19th Street Theater.

What’s the best way to find out about schedule changes, including any added screenings?

First, GET on the MAILING LIST! This will ensure that you are always guaranteed to be aware of any changes that take place in real time. Second, Check THEATRES, SAIFF Box Offices, Information Booths, and the South Asian International Film Festival website for the latest info on any changes to the schedule, including "TBAs" - a placeholder in the film schedule that allows Festival programmers to add screenings of popular films.
